Dickson County Traffic Court Records
Behind every citation sits a court file. That file is public. It lists the court and the case or citation number. The same file covers the charged violation, each setting, and recorded events. Money entries the court tracks appear there too. General Sessions holds Traffic Court every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. It takes guilty pleas and proofs of violation as stated on the tickets. Leslie Shelton heads the General Sessions office and its limited-jurisdiction docket.
The clerk's counter sits in the Justice Center at 500 Spring Street, Charlotte, Tennessee 37036. Call 615-789-5414 or fax 615-789-3456. Hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Keep one caution in mind. A standing Tuesday schedule never proves your citation is still set. Confirm the date against the actual file.
Four Dickson County Traffic Routes
Dickson County posts no countywide citation-search portal. No single municipal page gathers every local ticket either, so the court named on the citation sets the first contact.
| Issuing route | First contact | In-person or mail |
|---|---|---|
| County General Sessions | Dickson TnCIS; 615-789-5414 | Justice Center, 500 Spring Street |
| City of Dickson | City court; 615-446-9249 | 206 W. Walnut for clerk business; 600 E. Walnut for appearance |
| White Bluff | Town Court; 615-797-3131 ext. 107 | 52 Graham Street; P.O. Box 300 |
| Burns | City Hall 615-446-2851 or Police 615-446-3635 | 2717 Church Street; P.O. Box 36 |
Charlotte and Vanleer appear in the county General Sessions description. Search by court, not geography. A stop inside a town's limits does not guarantee that town's court holds the ticket, so follow the court printed on the citation.
Looking Up a Traffic Ticket
County cases start with Dickson Online Court Records. Pick General Sessions, then Criminal or Civil. The search form takes a Party Name / Case Reference, a Case Year, or a Case Number, and a municipal payment vendor is no substitute for this case inquiry.
- Read the issuing court, citation number, alleged violation, and printed court date.
- If it names General Sessions, search TnCIS and call 615-789-5414 when the result is absent or unclear.
- If it names a city court, use that city's official page and clerk phone rather than county portal assumptions.
- Ask the clerk to repeat the current date, status, balance, and any appearance requirement.
- For a filed citation, judgment, or certified copy, request the exact record from the court that owns it.
TnCIS help shows a reference shaped like 99GS1-2023-CR-12345. Enter just the digits after the final hyphen. Those digits go in the Case Number field, while any reference that breaks the pattern belongs in Party Name / Case Reference instead.
| Search field | Input | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Party Name / Case Reference | Text | Name or one nonstandard reference. |
| Case Year | Four digits | Narrows a known filing year. |
| Case Number | Numeric portion | Use digits after the final hyphen. |
| General Sessions | Court checkbox | Select for the county traffic route. |
| Criminal or Civil | Case-type checkbox | Search the type indicated by the clerk or papers. |
Dickson County Traffic Court Addresses
Tickets written inside Dickson city limits go to municipal court. That court hears city ordinance and traffic violations. First appearances are set for the first Tuesday and Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. Two addresses matter here. Court Clerk Gina Swaner works the business counter at 206 W. Walnut Street. Hearings happen at 600 E. Walnut Street. Call 615-446-9249; weekday hours run 7:30 a.m. to 4:20 p.m.
The official City of Dickson Municipal Court page names the court staff. It spells out the municipal route plainly.

It separates city court staff from county General Sessions.
How to Find Your Traffic Court Date
Your paper citation carries the first date. The clerk and the docket come next. County General Sessions, Dickson, White Bluff, and Burns each run their own recurring sessions, so no generic county calendar answers for every ticket.
| County General Sessions | Every Tuesday at 9:00 a.m.; confirm with 615-789-5414. |
|---|---|
| City of Dickson | First Tuesday and Wednesday first appearances at 9:00 a.m. |
| White Bluff | Court begins promptly at 9:00 a.m.; confirm the date at extension 107. |
| Burns | First Tuesday monthly at 6:00 p.m. |
| Case key | Quote the citation or case number and issuing court. |
A continuance shows up as a later event on the case. Still, confirm the current setting with the clerk. For a fuller schedule, see Dickson County Court Dates.
Dickson County Traffic Payment Portal
The City of Dickson court page links to nCourt for paying fines online. It is a city-authorized route. It is not the county's TnCIS docket. So do not treat it as a case lookup. At the counter, the city takes cash, money orders, cashier's checks, and cards. Cards carry a fee. Never mail cash.
The official City of Dickson municipal code entry provides the code route.

The code entry supplies the legal setting. Current ticket procedure comes from the court page and the clerk.
Pay or Contest a Ticket
Paying and fighting a ticket lead to different places. Ask first whether payment skips an appearance. Confirm what a payment settles before you send money. The county publishes no fine schedule, so never lift an amount from another court's fees.
| Pay | Contest |
|---|---|
| Confirm the exact court, amount, deadline, accepted method, and appearance waiver. | Confirm the court date, location, and required appearance with the clerk. |
| Use only the payment route supplied by that court and keep the receipt. | Do not treat an online payment screen as the docket or hearing calendar. |
| Ask whether any proof or certificate must also be filed. | Use the citation and docket number when discussing the matter with staff. |
Missed setting: contact the court promptly. A missed appearance can create further court action, and only that clerk can state the current case status and release requirements.
Dickson County Traffic Ticket Deadlines
White Bluff Town Court meets at Town Hall, 52 Graham Street. Its rule is simple. An eligible citation paid on or before the Friday before court removes the need to appear. Certified checks and money orders go to P.O. Box 300. Never mail cash. Arrive late after roll call and your case moves to the end of the docket. Office staff cannot reset a matter on court day.
Burns holds traffic court the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. Its police page sets the terms. Payment received before the court date can avoid appearance under the posted instruction, with checks or money orders payable to Town of Burns at P.O. Box 36, and electronic payment gets a mention. A safety-school certificate can ride along with payment for credit. Confirm eligibility and receipt. Burns posts no public docket form.
Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record
Two different records exist here. The court file stays with the clerk of the court that heard the citation. A state driving record is different. It belongs to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. The difference just routes your request to the right office.
| Court traffic record | State driving record |
|---|---|
| Custodian is General Sessions or the relevant municipal court. | Custodian is the Tennessee safety agency. |
| Shows the citation case, settings, docket events, and disposition. | Maintained under separate driver-services processes. |
| Request a copy or certification from the court clerk. | Use the agency's own official request channel. |
These two files answer different questions. For what the judge actually ordered on a traffic ticket, get the court record from the Dickson County court that handled it; your driving record lives with the state, not the clerk.
Dickson County Traffic Court Handoff
Start with the court that issued the notice. Tennessee Safety guidance lays out a 30-day window after a failure-to-appear notice to satisfy the court and submit the release, and it cites a $65 reinstatement fee under T.C.A. section 55-50-502(a)(1)(I). A separate period applies when the problem is failure to pay. Current agency and court instructions control in every case.
Ask the court what must be satisfied. Get any release it provides. Then follow the state agency route if required. A statewide agency record cannot clear an unresolved court docket entry, and the clerk cannot stand in for the agency's separate process.
Copies and Fees
Dickson County publishes no official citation-copy fee or county traffic fine schedule. The hosted 2018 county public-record policy offers a guide instead. It lists inspection as free. Black-and-white letter or legal copies run $0.15 per page. Certain electronic media cost actual cost. Labor charges start after 15 minutes. Prepayment may be required over $10. Confirm those amounts remain current and cover the court item you want.
| Request | Known research finding | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Inspect county record | Older policy lists no inspection charge. | Ask for current policy and appointment needs. |
| Plain paper copy | Older policy lists $0.15 per black-and-white page. | Request a current itemized estimate. |
| Certified citation or disposition | No current local fee found. | Ask the responsible clerk for certification cost. |
| Municipal payment fee | Varies by court and method. | Confirm with that municipal clerk before paying. |
Put the essentials in writing. Name the court, the citation or case number, the party, the approximate date, and the exact document, and say whether you need a plain or certified copy.
Dickson County Ticket Search Gaps
Dickson County publishes no photo-enforcement page, citation export, or standalone ticket-search form. No official source treats every city ticket as a General Sessions record, either. Those gaps make clerk confirmation part of a solid docket search, not a last resort.
Documented channels include TnCIS and the clerk phone service. The Justice Center counter, municipal counters, and mail requests also work. Whether a public terminal exists is unclear. Statewide TnCIS discovery can point you to participating offices. But it cannot substitute for the correct local court. If the ticket never shows up online, go back to the issuing source. Use the number on the paper.
Dickson County Traffic Issuing Agencies
A Dickson County traffic case can reach General Sessions through more than one enforcement source. The county's own court description lists them: the Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Department of Safety troopers, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Department of Conservation, Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Judicial Drug Task Force, Burns city officers, and officers serving Charlotte and Vanleer. That intake is broad. So the spot where you were stopped does not always identify the right docket.
Read the citation before you search. Check the agency and the court printed on it. A state-trooper ticket can still land in county General Sessions. A City of Dickson or White Bluff citation may stay with its municipal court. Burns matters need the ticket itself. The town runs its own traffic-court schedule, so check current city instructions too. When the agency is clear but the court is not, call General Sessions at 615-789-5414 and quote the full citation number.
The agency name is a routing clue, nothing more. It cannot tell you whether a ticket was paid, contested, reset, dismissed, or otherwise resolved. Those facts live with the clerk. The responsible clerk's traffic court record holds them, in the setting and the docket entries that follow it.
